The startup is a technician commissioning the unit: checking oil levels, coolant, battery, running through the automatic startup sequence, verifying the transfer switch operates correctly under simulated grid loss, and testing the load transfer. This isn’t optional. Kohler warranties require professional commissioning, and skipping it can void coverage from day one.
